St. Gertrude Church and School has rebranded and renamed the junior high youth ministry program. With L’alto: Junior High, you can expect the same quality experience you’ve come to know and love at St. Gertrude—along with new and exciting initiatives. We invite you to read more about the reasoning behind the name change.
What Is L’alto: Junior High?
That every young person in the parish reach and bounds would personally know the love of God fully revealed in Jesus Christ.
We offer two related sets of events through this ministry:
L’alto: Junior High Events
Periodically, we host social events for seventh and eighth graders from all walks of life. These events are marked by Christ-centered community, prayer, and purpose. We often ask for small fees associated with the venue or activity costs and may require advance registration. To see our upcoming events, visit the L’alto: Junior High page on our church website.
L’alto: Confirmation Events
Although not required for those who are enrolled in the parish school, L’alto: Confirmation nights are offered once a month and welcome to any school students and friends who would like to join us. We are following a two-year program (beginning in seventh grade and continuing until the sacrament of Confirmation is received in eighth grade) that refocuses on the big life and faith questions that young people are asking: Is any of this Church stuff real? Who is this Jesus? and Why does it matter if I follow him or not? We also host retreats and other formative events that are meant to help young people assent to the sacrament of Confirmation with their whole person.
Who Can Come?
L’alto: Junior High is open to any seventh or eighth grader Friends, neighbors, non-Catholics are welcome!
