The primary purpose of the athletic program is to provide students with the instruction, guidance, and direction necessary to develop their talents in athletics, while at the same time forming them in those virtues that are an integral part of team play and competition. The athletic program is run by St. Gertrude Boosters Association, a group of volunteers elected to facilitate all St. Gertrude sponsored athletics participating in the GCCYS (Greater Cincinnati Catholic Youth Sports) and GCYL (Greater Catholic Youth League).
St. Gertrude School students have the opportunity to participate in the following sports:
- Basketball (grades 3-8)
- Cross Country / Track (grades K-8)
- Football (grades K-8; boys)
- Volleyball (grades 3-8; girls)
- Cheerleading (grades K-8; girls)
