The liturgical calendar is seamlessly integrated into daily school life. A few events are particularly anticipated by the school community.
Rosary Procession: In October, as a school we gather in the evening for a candlelight ceremony in the church. The children lead us in the Rosary in English and Latin.
Gallery of Saints: Our 2nd graders bring the saints to life quite literally with a living museum. Parents and students of all grade levels visit the gallery and “press" play to learn about the life of each Saint represented.
Christmas Pageant: The annual Christmas Pageant is a traditional and beautiful celebration of the nativity involving students from 2nd to 8th grade.
Passion Play: The Passion Play is a profound combination of various spoken parts from the Passion of our Lord in Scripture, music, meditations, and art – all of which serve to deepen the students’ understanding of the mystery of our Lord’s Passion in preparation for Holy Week.
May Crowning: The May Crowning is a longstanding St. Gertrude School tradition honoring Mary the Mother of God. The night includes a procession, Eucharistic Adoration, and crowning of the Blessed Mother with a floral wreath by two 8th graders and two 2nd graders nominated by their class.
